Premium Bamboo Fungus
Phallus indusiatus — also known as bamboo fungus or bamboo pith — is one of the most visually unique mushrooms in the world. Recognized by its delicate lacy skirt and hollow stem, this mushroom has been treasured across East Asia not just for its rarity, but for its light, springy texture and clean, subtly earthy flavor.
Nutritionally, bamboo fungus is a gentle powerhouse: low in calories, rich in fiber, and packed with polysaccharides that support gut health and immune function. In traditional medicine, it’s been linked to detoxifying benefits and used in dishes meant to promote internal balance.
When rehydrated, bamboo fungus becomes sponge-like and bouncy — perfect for absorbing broths, sauces, and dressings. Its texture is often compared to soft loofah or handmade noodles, making it a favorite in fine soups and modern plant-based cuisine.
Rehydration Instructions:
Soak in warm water for 20–30 minutes until fully expanded and flexible. Rinse gently to remove any natural grit inside the stem or skirt.
Ways to Use:
- Braised bamboo fungus with shiitake and soy
- Double-boiled soup with ginseng and lotus seed
- Stuffed bamboo pith rolls with minced tofu or seafood
- Stir-fried with garlic and chili oil for a crunchy bite
- Clear soups or consommés for an elegant presentation
Both a delicacy and a conversation piece — bamboo fungus brings texture, elegance, and wellness into every bowl.
